Nick Lawson is the Global Head of Low Carbon Strategy at Mercuria Energy. He is responsible for developing the overall company strategy and investment in the energy transition – supporting the build out of businesses in low carbon fuels, power, carbon trading and developing new markets. He is also responsible for carbon reporting and tracking across the portfolio.
Prior to that he was Vice President carbon management and low carbon strategy for BP’s customer and products division (formerly ‘Downstream’) – focused on low carbon mobility from advanced fuels, EVs to hydrogen.
He was also BP’s group strategy director, focused on the development of BP’s long-term strategy and approach to the energy transition at a corporate level. He was instrumental in developing BP’s Net Zero ambition, ran BP’s New Energy Fund and led the company’s carbon tracking and reporting.
Nick is the former chair of the oil and gas industry association IPIECA’s climate change and adaptation task force.
